This photograph is part of the project The Future White Women of Azania by South African artist Athi-Patra Ruga. Azania was the dream that supported the struggle against apartheid in South Africa: a utopian land before colonisation. Athi-Patra Ruga’s project explores questions of identity and its reflection in clothes. This is a carnival where everybody can be who they want and look the way they like—a place where nobody is repressed.
